When is one too old to visit a pumpkin patch? Surely the answer must be never! As the end of October approaches, my daughter and I visited Tanaka Farms in Mission Viejo. Of course, the farm was bustling! Still, we managed to wander the fields. Wow, there are so many different varieties!
Even the white ones have different names!
Of course, we took a few photos and watched the families make important decisions. The kids wanted the biggest possible pumpkin. Dad wasn’t so sure about that choice. Thank goodness Tanaka provided wheelbarrows. We followed a family as they pushed their load of pumpkins into the Corn Maze. Don’t eat the corn! It isn’t edible!
One can spend a lot of time at Tanaka Farms. In addition to the pumpkin patch, they have a farm animal exhibit. We stopped to see the pigs, sheep, chickens, and goats. “Please send someone who has a bag of kibble!”
We didn’t need a pumpkin, but we did stop to shop at the farm store. Not only can you buy Halloween decorations, but there are also Tanaka shirts, mugs, and other souvenirs. Jams and honey are also available, as well as some fresh produce.
With only a few days until Halloween, I hope you get a chance to visit your local pumpkin patch. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy the fun! To learn more about Tanaka Farms, check out my 2017 post which features more photos of the farm. To see more images, please click here.
So glad to see you out and about love to read about your travels 😘
Thanks, Dar. It’s been a while. I hope I’m now ready to do more!
Love the pumpkin cannon! Did you get to shoot it? There were a couple of them at Temple Hall Farm in Leesburg, VA a few years ago which, for a small charge, the visitors were allowed to fire across a field at various targets. Great fun!
No, but the kids sure enjoyed watching those pumpkins fly!
